Autonomous deployment of heterogeneous mobile sensors

Abstract

This paper addresses the problem of deploying mobile sensors over a target area. In order to deal with realistic scenarios, the algorithm VorLag is introduced: it is based on the use of Voronoi diagrams in the Laguerre geometry to guide device movements so as to meet requirements on field coverage. The proposed approach provably works in operative scenarios characterized by heterogeneous devices, dynamically generated events or preferential coverage requirements.
