Mobile sensors deployment
Mobile sensor networks are important for several strategic applications devoted to monitoring critical areas such as wild fires, disaster areas, toxic regions or battlefields, where static sensor deployment cannot be performed manually. In such hostile scenarios, mobile sensors can dynamically adjust their position to improve the coverage with respect to their initial deployment.
We proposed a distributed algorithm for the autonomous deployment of mobile sensors called Push&Pull (P&P). This algorithm shows the basic self-* properties of autonomic computing since self-organization emerges without the need of external coordination or human intervention. Decisions regarding the behavior of each sensor are based on locally available information and do not require any prior knowledge of the operative scenario or any manual tuning of key parameters.
In this web site it is possible to download the P&P algorithm simulator we have used in our papers
as well as a detailed manual containing the istructions to set up and execute simulations.
Moreover some videos of the algorithm execution are available.
We hope this resources can be useful to ensure a timely dissemination as well as the possibility of compare our solution with others. For more information do not hesitate to contact the authors.
